As the craft beer movement grows and becomes more popular, more and more cities are hosting their own beer weeks to celebrate their local craft beer. Last year, Pittsburgh joined these cities by hosting its first annual Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week. This weeklong even had hundreds of events and brought in close to $2 million to the local economy.
This year, they are doing it again. The 2013 Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week (PCBW) is already shaping up to be an amazing week of events. Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week 2013 will be held from April 19-27, 2013. The Pittsburgh Craft Beer Alliance is hosting their own event for the first time this year with Unleash The Firkins – PCBW Real Ale Festival on Saturday, April 20th, 2013. A true real ale only festival with approximately 36 firkins of real ale set up and served as it should be, by an expert.
A local printing shop Commonwealth Press is also hosting a large scale festival type event with the Beer Barge. This 3 hours fest will cruise the three rivers of Pittsburgh for three hours with music and great craft beer. This event alone sold out of it’s 300 tickets in 4 MINUTES. Needless to say, this week is already shaping up to be pretty damn amazing. There are tons more events in the planning, these just happen to be the first two confirmed.

For the benefit of full disclosure, I serve on the board for The Pittsburgh Craft Beer Alliance as well. Not that I make money from this, but just so everyone knows where I am coming from when I post about it.
Have a beer week I should post about? Send me a comment below, or via my contact page and I will do my best to get your festival up, too.
